Ambulance and Paramedics

In 2015, the CQC rated London Ambulance Services as inadequate. Prior to Perfect Ward, LAS was using pen and paper processes that were inaccessible to most staff and long delays in data review were common. With 70 stations across Greater London, LAS required a real-time and mobile inspection solution.

Key Challenges:
  • Daily inspections need quick responses – delay in processing information
  • Needed to be able to flexibly update inspection questions
  • Medicine management – stringent processes with a massive volume of medicines flow made it difficult to track and maintain stock levels; this is a key compliance issue with the CQC
  • In special measures with the CQC with a pressure on medicines management

London Ambulance Service implemented Perfect Ward across all 70 stations. Perfect Ward’s ease of use made it easy to implement for hundreds of staff with no prior training. Real-time audits allowed for on the go inspecting, all while creating a clear view of progress and providing an audible history for the CQC.

When revisited by the CQC in 2018, London Ambulance Service was awarded a “Good” rating. LAS now has over 600 users and perform over 20,000 inspections a year. The app has provided them with full visibility across the whole of Greater London. The app provides them with alerts for compliance issues, and they are now able to track compliance live across the organisation. They are also starting to use Perfect Ward for infection prevention and control inspections.
